so umbrella academy was originally a comic (written by gerard way, the frontman of mcr, but otherwise unrelated) and then it was adapted as a netflix series, the first season of which came out last month. I don't know if it would be up your alley because I don't really know your taste in TV now that I think about it? it doesn't strike me as something that would be super up your alley but I could be wrong.

also I ended up deciding to read the secret place and then I'm going to read brideshead after I finish it (likely this week, although I was distracted by jigsaw puzzles and neopets today)
